Culture: Friuli-Venezia-Giulia a region full of history and culture

The agritourism “Ai Due Leoni” is located in Aquileia, a city founded by the Romans in the 181 b.C., fundamental for its trade and defence role and very important starting point for the colonization towards north and east. With the arrival of Christianity, according to tradition brought here by Saint Marco, the moral and cultural imporantance of Aquileia grew even more: the city become the branch of the Patriarchate of Aquileia until 1420, when its power transfered to Venice. It's an UNESCO World Heritage site and offers the tourists a full immersion in the culture and in the history thanks to its Museo Archeologico Nazionale and Museo Paleocristiano, the archologicals sites and its wonderful Basilica, that with the amazing mosaics floor is one of the most known and beautiful monuments of the city.

The strategic position of the Agritourism consents to reach very fast all the the other beautiful cities of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia: from Cividale, Palmanova, Udine, Gorizia and the Carsic area where many cruel battles of World War I were fought, Trieste and to the amazing wine region of Collio.
